| Essential Oils |
Lavender: There are many varieties of Lavender plants. The oldest and most sought after is the 'Fine Lavender' (Lavandula angustifolia) type which produces small quantities of the excellent Lavender Oil and grows in the arid mountains of Provence at an altitude above 800m. The 'Fine Lavender' is a small plant with only one flower on each stem. Approx. 130kg of flowers are needed for 1litre of oil. Lavandin: Is a crossing between the 'fine lavender' and the 'spiked lavender'. It grows anywhere in large round clumps and produces an abundance of flowers (often found in lavender sachets). Only 40kg of flowers are needed for 1litre of oil. |
